 Schindler opened a new R&D in Pudong Shanghai on Sept 1st, 1999. The R&D center is located in Zhang Jiang Hi-Tech Park of Pudong.
R&D's mission, Partner in success, is now introduced to Asia. Besides Ebikon Headquarter), Morristown(USA) and Sao Paolo(Brazil), this R&D Center is the forth of its kind and the only one in Asia. The main tasks of the new Competence Center is streamlining the development activities, focussing on the local market and implementing Group products and processes for shorter development phases. About 20 engineers from China will work together with experts from the Schindler Group to ensure the best technology transfer and the development of new products and services. The R&D facility focuses on developing new elevator systems and mechanical compenents for the Asian market.
The facilities of R&D-AP are the same as those in Ebikon and are the best in China. They include Schindler Intranet, high-tech designing and testing equipment and a test tower. R&D - AP can access necessary information over the S-net, use the advanced R&D CAD tool Pro/Engineer and is able to maintain the PDM system and Pro/Intralink for all product information.
Today, China represents one of the biggest elevator and escalator markets in Asia and the world. The new center strengthens the operations in China and Asia Pacific, bringing expertise in line with Schindler experience gained worldwide. With this R&D and training facility, Schindler proves a long-term commitment to the Chinese and Asian markets. |
